Verizon Communications Inc. urged a Florida federal judge Wednesday to kill a lawsuit from Astro Tel Inc., arguing the defunct telephone service provider can't come close to proving that Verizon breached racketeering and antitrust laws by abusing its control of the state's telephone infrastructure.

Verizon Communications Inc. on Friday asked a Florida federal court to toss bankrupt telephone service provider Astro Tel Inc.'s lawsuit accusing the company of abusing its control of telecommunications infrastructure to obstruct AstroTel's ability to serve its subscribers.
