A Texas federal jury on Friday awarded $16.7 million to the French holder of a cam phaser patent that he alleged was used by Hilite International Inc. in a piece the company sold for Chrysler and GM engines.

A French inventor on Tuesday asked a Texas federal jury to find Hilite International Inc. infringed three patents related to an engine's camshaft phaser, in a suit seeking royalties on Hilite phasers used in Chrysler and General Motors car engines.
