AT&T Inc., Sprint Nextel Corp. and other telecommunications companies won dismissal Tuesday of a whistleblower suit accusing them of overcharging the government for wiretapping services after a California federal judge ruled the whistleblower who brought the suit was not the original source of the claims.

AT&T Inc., Sprint Nextel Corp. and other telecommunications companies urged a California federal judge Friday to toss a whistleblower suit accusing them of overcharging the government for wiretapping services, saying the ex-New York federal prosecutor who sued them hasn't shown he has actual knowledge of any fraud.
