A California federal judge on Thursday tossed a putative class action against Redbox Automated Retail LLC over the company's use of one-time opt-out text messages, but sidestepped a larger argument over the constitutionality of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Redbox Says Opt-Out Texts Protected By 1st Amendment
Redbox Automated Retail LLC told a California federal court on Friday that it has a First Amendment right to send a one-time text message confirming an opt-out request from consumers who ask the company not to contact them, despite what the government says on the issue.
