Artist Christo is one step closer to proceeding with his temporary art installation that will drape fabric panels above a nearly 6-mile stretch of the Arkansas River in Colorado after a federal judge on Friday upheld the U.S. Bureau of Land Management's approval of the project.

A Colorado federal judge on Wednesday told the artist Christo that he must hold off on his Arkansas River project until a challenge to the project before the U.S. Interior Board of Land Appeals is resolved, according to a representative for the artist.

A Colorado group sued the U.S. Bureau of Land Management Wednesday, saying the agency ignored environmental dangers when approving the artist Christo's plan to drape fabric above a six-mile stretch of the Arkansas River.
