A Texas federal judge has released subsidiaries of ConocoPhillips, Shell Chemical Co. and Marathon Petroleum Corp. from allegations that they're liable for buying fuel stolen by drug cartels from Pemex Exploracion y Produccion pipelines, ruling Mexico's state-owned energy firm waited too long to file suit.

New Pemex Suit Goes After Shell, Conoco In Stolen Fuel Fight
Mexico's state-owned oil firm Pemex Exploracion y Produccion on Tuesday sued ConocoPhillips Co. and Shell Chemical Co. in a case involving fuel stolen by drug cartels being brought into the U.S., flouting a judge's concern that such action would drag out the long-running dispute.
