NBCUniversal Media LLC's contract breach claims over Dish Network LLC's ad-skipping digital video recording technology can proceed in California federal court, as the judge presiding over the copyright component of the case in that venue ruled that Dish's concurrent New York case does not preclude similar claims from being raised in her court.

A New York federal judge on Monday found that television broadcasters' copyright lawsuits against Dish Network Corp. over its new ad-skipping feature can proceed in California, while letting some contract claims in a related case proceed in New York.
