Medical device maker Smith & Nephew Inc. has reached a deal to settle its $56 million trade secrets suit against its former sales managers and representatives alleging the independent contractors violated their noncompete agreements by taking jobs with a rival, according documents filed Thursday in Tennessee federal court.

A Tennessee federal judge on Tuesday barred several former Smith & Nephew Inc. sales contractors from contacting the medical device maker's clients for rival companies, saying S&N has a good chance of winning its $56 million trade secrets case against the contractors.
