A Maryland federal judge on Friday tossed a proposed class action against a Nationwide Insurance Co. affiliate over its alleged failure to promptly cover personal injury protection claims, ruling that the plaintiff isn't eligible to represent the class.

Nationwide Insurance Co. of America was hit with a proposed class action in Maryland federal court Friday alleging it breached consumers' automobile insurance contracts by routinely failing to promptly cover personal injury protection claims.
