Lakers Dunk Fan's Class Suit Over Unsolicited Text Messages
The Los Angeles Lakers scored a dismissal Thursday of a ticket holder's putative class action accusing the basketball franchise of sending him unsolicited text messages, when a California federal judge ruled a consumer protection law didn't apply because the plaintiff voluntarily gave the team his number.

A ticket holder who launched a putative class action accusing the Los Angeles Lakers of sending him unsolicited text messages on Thursday shot back at the team's contention that he conspired with his attorneys to frame the franchise, saying that he consulted with counsel only after receiving the messages.
