Kanye West Gets 'Gold Digger' Copyright Action Gutted
A California federal judge on Thursday threw out most of the claims in a copyright infringement lawsuit alleging rapper Kanye West stole a portion of a 1970s song for his 2005 hit "Gold Digger," saying that distortions of the short samples meant the average audience wouldn't recognize them.

UMG Wants Kanye West 'Gold Digger' Copyright Suit Tossed
UMG Recordings Inc. and several other music companies urged a California federal judge Monday to toss a copyright infringement lawsuit alleging rapper Kanye West stole a portion of a 1970s song for his 2005 hit "Gold Digger," arguing the complaint's allegations are too vague for the case to proceed.
