A Maryland federal judge Monday trimmed a malpractice action Al Jazeera International brought against Dow Lohnes PLLC over a payment dispute with a construction company to build a new television studio and offices, allowing part of the case to move forward.

Al Jazeera International can't explain how it would have gotten a different result in failed litigation over a troubled construction project if a Dow Lohnes PLLC lawyer had called an architect who signed off on construction invoices to testify, the firm said in a filing in Maryland federal court Monday.
