Liberty Insurance Underwriters Inc. told a Texas federal court Friday that its battle with Occidental Chemical Corp. and Texas Brine LLC over liability for a massive sinkhole is governed by Texas law because the insureds are based in that state.

Texas Brine Demands Liberty Cover $50M In Sinkhole Claims
Texas Brine Co. LLC has complained to the Louisiana Department of Insurance that Liberty Insurance Underwriters Inc. is refusing to provide $50 million in coverage for claims stemming from a massive sinkhole in Louisiana, after a federal judge approved a $48 million class action settlement.
