EPA Will Reconsider Approval Of Ky. Selenium Standards
The federal government, the state of Kentucky and industry groups said Friday they've settled a suit brought by environmentalists seeking to overturn the state's new water quality standards for selenium, in which the EPA will redo its review of the state's standards for the coal-mining byproduct.

Environmental groups seeking to overturn Kentucky's new water quality standards for selenium said Friday the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency improperly relied on the state's promise to measure water quality through fish tissue analyses, even though some waterways no longer have fish because of the contaminant — a coal-mining byproduct.
