A Michigan federal judge on Monday tossed Illinois National Insurance Co.'s suit seeking to recover $19 million in defense funds it advanced to consulting firm AlixPartners LLP in litigation over the firm's alleged failure to properly vet an acquisition, finding the court lacked subject matter jurisdiction.

Illinois National Insurance Co. on Tuesday hit consulting firm AlixPartners LLP with a suit in Michigan federal court seeking to recover $19 million in defense funds it advanced the company in connection with a claim brought by a private equity company over the acquisition of a German railway manufacturer.
