Paper company Temple-Inland Inc. finally settled its challenge to a $1.4 million fine imposed by Delaware over violations of its unclaimed property law Tuesday, closing off the prospect of an appeal after a judge ruled that the state’s audit practice violated Temple-Inland’s due process rights.

Del. Unclaimed Property Law Can't Apply Retroactively: Judge
A Delaware federal judge ruled Tuesday that an application of the state's unclaimed property laws resulting in a $1.4 million fine against a packing products company violated the company's due process rights, saying it unfairly applied estimates about unclaimed property liabilities retroactively.
