A New York federal judge on Monday tossed a whistleblower suit brought by a CitiMortgage vice president accusing the bank of engaging in reckless lending practices and making false claims when applying for government insurance, saying the whistleblower failed to submit a court-ordered status report.

A vice president at Citigroup Inc.’s mortgage unit says it continues to engage in reckless lending and underwriting practices and make false claims about loan quality when applying for government insurance two years after paying over $158 million to settle similar claims, according to a whistleblower complaint unsealed last week.
