Apple Inc. cannot collect attorneys' fees after ducking a patent infringement suit over iPhone and iPad speakers, a California federal judge ruled Thursday, finding that there is insufficient evidence that Slot Speaker Technologies Inc.'s litigation strategies were unreasonable enough to warrant awarding fees.

A California federal judge told Slot Speaker Technologies on Thursday that he's concerned about sending its patent infringement suit against Apple over iPhone and iPad speakers to trial, saying during a hearing that it doesn't seem that Slot Speaker has "pinned down" its theory yet.
