A North Carolina federal judge on Wednesday rejected Albemarle Corp.'s bid to escape a $17.6 million verdict won by Bayer Cropscience LP on claims that Albemarle unfairly raised the price of an herbicide component, and awarded Bayer $708,383 in attorney fees.

Bayer Unit Wins $17.6M Over Herbicide Supplier Price Hikes
A North Carolina federal jury said Wednesday that Albemarle Corp. caused $17.6 million in damages to Bayer Cropscience LP by unfairly raising the price of a chemical used in herbicides following Bayer's announced intent to terminate a sales agreement between the two companies.
