A pair of HSBC Card Services account holders pushed a California federal judge Friday to reject a proposed $6.5 million class settlement of claims that the company secretly recorded calls, arguing that the pact contains "warning signs of collusion" and is designed to shut down their own parallel litigation.

HSBC Card Services Inc. on Tuesday agreed to pay up to $6.5 million to settle a proposed class action alleging that it secretly recorded the calls of almost 870,000 people in California over a three-year period.
