A family suing Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. for a wrongful death it blames on the blood thinner Pradaxa told a federal judge in Massachusetts that consequences for the company's widespread discovery misconduct in a related multidistrict litigation should carry over to its case.

Looking to avoid a wrongful death trial scheduled for December, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceutical Inc. told a federal judge in Boston on Thursday that he should declare as a matter of law that its warnings about the fatal bleeding risk when taking the blood thinner Pradaxa were adequate.
