Cargill Inc. settled on Friday a trade secret lawsuit it filed against a former meatpacking executive who jumped ship to rival JBS USA, inking a deal that bars him from disclosing information but allows him to take the new job.

A federal judge on Monday refused to grant Cargill Inc. an injunction that would have barred a former executive from working at rival JBS USA for a year, saying the food giant failed to prove he had threatened to disclose trade secrets to his new company.

Cargill Inc. slapped a former employee with a trade secrets suit in Colorado federal court Thursday, claiming he pocketed highly confidential and proprietary information on his way out the door that he'll inevitably disclose in his new position with Cargill competitor JBS USA.
