Farmers' cooperative Land O'Lakes Inc. sued one of its suppliers in Wisconsin federal court Monday alleging it secretly added a derivative of animal urine primarily used in fertilizer to its whey protein concentrate, which the cooperative used to make animal feed, to make the product appear higher in protein.
