Maker's Mark Beats False Ad Suit Over 'Handmade' Label
A California federal judge on Monday tossed a putative class action claiming Maker's Mark Distillery Inc. misled consumers by labeling its whiskey "handmade" when it isn't, axing allegations of negligent and intentional misrepresentation while finding that no reasonable consumer could be misled by the bottle's claim.

Maker's Mark 'Handmade' Claims Are False, Class Says
Maker's Mark Distillery Inc. was slapped with a proposed statewide consumer class action in California federal court Friday, accusing the whisky maker of false advertising and overcharging customers by claiming its spirits are "handmade" when they are actually mass produced through a largely mechanized process.
