Alice Frees DirecTV, Sports Leagues From Media Patent Suit
A Texas federal judge on Tuesday dismissed a suit brought by patent holder Affinity Labs of Texas LLC against DirecTV LLC and the media arms of Major League Baseball and two other big sports leagues, finding the media streaming patent at issue invalid under the U.S. Supreme Court's Alice ruling.

The media arms of three professional sports leagues blasted Affinity Labs of Texas LLC's objections to a magistrate's recommendation that Affinity's patent suit against the broadcasters be dismissed, telling a Texas federal court Tuesday that the patent is invalid.
