Investors in sapphire wafer supplier Rubicon Technology told an Illinois federal judge Tuesday that they have reached a $2.5 million deal to end a proposed class action alleging that the company boosted a 2014 public offering by hiding that a positive trend in its financial fortunes had reversed.

A company that sells sapphire wafers to the light-emitting diode industry hooked investors in its 2014 public offering by citing months-old positive trends that had already eroded, an investment fund claimed in a putative class action filed Thursday.
