A California federal judge has denied a bid by former J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. employees to force classwide arbitration of their unpaid wages claims, holding Monday that the Ninth Circuit's recent ruling barring some class arbitration waivers doesn't obligate Chase to allow classwide arbitration for these workers.

A California federal judge on Monday shot down a bid for class certification in a Fair Labor Standards Act suit against from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. for underpaid wages, saying a former private client banker didn't prove others in his role had similar experiences of being forced to work off-the-clock.
