A Pennsylvania federal judge on Wednesday let a group of Babcock & Wilcox units off the hook in two cases accusing them of releasing hazardous radioactive substances into the environment that caused cancer in residents living near a Pittsburgh area plant, adopting prior findings from 15 similar suits.

About a month after a judge dismissed 11 consolidated lawsuits against Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group Inc. over nuclear emissions from a Pittsburgh-area facility, another suit was filed Friday alleging negligent practices by the company caused seven other residents to develop cancer.
