FWS Barred From Letting Property Owners Kill Red Wolves
In a win for environmental groups, a North Carolina federal judge has declared that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service violated the Endangered Species Act by providing permission to property owners to kill red wolves that are listed under the Endangered Species Act, saying recovery efforts for the animal have been improperly weakened.

A North Carolina federal judge on Thursday told the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service it may not issue permits for the killing of red wolves without first proving they are a threat to the safety of humans, livestock or pets, a victory for environmentalists who had sought to stop the practice.
