Law Firm Can't Escape DirecTV Subscribers' RICO Claims
A New Jersey federal judge on Tuesday trimmed a proposed class action accusing a law firm of helping DirecTV engage in unlawful collections practices but refused to sink the case outright, finding that subscribers failed to establish a consumer fraud claim but that Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act allegations could move forward.

Verizon, DirecTV Subscriber Suit Sent To Arbitration
DirecTV and Verizon won their bids Tuesday to compel arbitration of a putative New Jersey federal class action alleging the companies fraudulently targeted mostly minority small-business owners in a scheme to profit off a deliberate mischaracterization of the customers' accounts.
