A widow can't sue General Motors Co. for fraud after it allegedly hid documents to reach a more favorable settlement in a suit over the crash that killed her husband and four children, the Second Circuit ruled Wednesday, because she signed away her claims to a third party in that settlement.

A widow who settled her 2007 lawsuit against General Motors Co. over a crash that killed her family announced on Thursday her intention to appeal to the Second Circuit an order affirming a bankruptcy ruling that rejected her bid to negate her settlement and seek more money from the automaker.
