Mercedes 'Defeat Device' Suit Well Pled, Drivers Say
A group of Mercedes owners alleging that their diesel-engine Benzes use Volkswagen-style "defeat devices" to get around emissions tests and are actually big polluters asked a New Jersey federal judge on Friday not to dismiss their suit, saying they have appropriately pled all their claims.

Mercedes 'Defeat Device' Suit Prompts Questions From EPA
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has asked Daimler to explain emissions levels in certain Mercedes-Benz diesel vehicles after a proposed class action alleged they use Volkswagen-style "defeat devices" to ace emissions inspections, a Daimler representative confirmed Monday.
