Daimler AG asked a Washington federal court to resume its lawsuit against Amazon.com Inc. Friday, saying a U.S. International Trade Commission probe into knockoff wheels sold by the online retailer was resolved with issues key to the suit still undecided.

The U.S. International Trade Commission on Thursday officially launched an initial investigation into allegations by Daimler AG that counterfeit versions of its patented wheels for passenger vehicles are being sold on Amazon and by other retailers.

German automaker Daimler AG lodged a suit Monday accusing Amazon.com Inc. of design and trademark infringement for selling Mercedes-Benz wheel replicas that allow it to profit off the luxury brand, according to a complaint filed in Washington federal court.
