An Illinois federal judge on Tuesday tossed USAA Federal Savings Bank's litigation alleging it lost more than $3 million in a fraudulent check-cashing scheme due to a payday lender's failure to protect financial information, though she left an opening for the bank to try again on a pair of claims.

Insurance and banking services provider USAA filed a complaint on Friday in Illinois federal court accusing a payday lending company of negligence for failing to secure vital financial information that it had collected from checks cashed by consumers — and this allegedly left USAA facing numerous fraudulent transactions.
