A Maryland federal judge on Friday refused to block Maryland's first-of-its-kind law prohibiting price gouging by generic drug makers, while nonetheless suggesting that the law may be unconstitutionally vague.

Maryland officials said Monday the generic-drug industry’s top trade group can’t block a new state law authorizing fines against drugmakers that engage in “price gouging,” arguing the law is sufficiently narrow as it applies only to certain drugs when the price is so high it “shocks the conscience.”
