A Colorado federal judge approved a nearly $8 million settlement that will go to a class of roughly 600 royalty owners who alleged they were underpaid by a unit of gas producer Terra Energy Partners LLC, accepting the deal even after concerns were raised about its long-term impact.

Attorneys for a proposed class of gas leaseholders urged a Colorado federal magistrate judge on Wednesday to disregard objectors and approve a nearly $8 million settlement of claims gas producer TEP Rocky Mountain LLC took improper deductions from their royalties.
