Netflix, Hulu Shake Off Texas City's Franchise Fee Suit
Netflix and Hulu on Thursday walked away from claims that they owe a Texas city franchise fees for their use of public broadband wireline facilities after a federal judge cut the streaming giants loose, ruling that the city of New Boston can't collect such fees unless the companies hold a certain license.
