A drywall framing system manufacturer that won a $558,000 judgment against a credit union over an email spoofing scam has asked the federal judge overseeing the matter to restore an earlier decision to award punitive damages in the suit, saying the additional award was "well-warranted" based on the credit union's "reckless" conduct.

A Virginia federal judge ruled that a credit union used by a scammer to steal more than $500,000 from a building parts manufacturer must pick up the tab for repaying those losses and more, but later rescinded his decision to award punitive damages.
