A prominent Taiwanese manufacturer of smartphone camera lenses has failed to convince the Federal Circuit that the Patent Trial and Appeal Board wrongly found one of its patents challenged by Motorola to be invalid.

Smartphone maker Motorola has convinced judges on an administrative patent tribunal that language in a patent application filed by a prominent Taiwanese manufacturer of smartphone camera lenses also covers language in a later patent issued to the same company, currently the subject of a suit in California federal court.
