A Liberty Mutual unit and a Maryland lumber company agreed to drop a lawsuit alleging that the insurer underpaid the company for arson damage, according to recent filings in Maryland federal court.

A Maryland lumber company told a federal judge Tuesday that a Liberty Mutual unit should have paid it $253,000 to replace logging equipment that it said was totaled by arson, rather than the $78,000 the company received for repairs.
