A dispute between an insurer and an M&T Bank subsidiary was voluntarily dismissed in a Delaware federal court Friday, ending a spat over a 76-year-old woman's $5 million life insurance policy and its potential involvement in a scheme.

An M&T Bank subsidiary told a Delaware federal court that just because an insurer says a $5 million life insurance policy amounts to a wager on a senior citizen's life doesn't mean it should be able to void the policy, pointing to the insurer accepting premium payments on it for years.

Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. asked a Delaware federal court Thursday to void a $5 million life insurance policy, saying it was taken out by a third party as a wager on the life of a senior citizen and thus violated the state's constitution, insurable interest laws and public policy.
