The federal government, the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and five states are asking a Colorado federal judge to enter a consent decree with The Williams Companies Inc. and Harvest Four Corners LLC, calling their settlement with the natural gas companies "fair, reasonable and in the public interest."

The U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency put forward three proposed settlements Thursday in Utah and Colorado federal courts for a combined $9.25 million to resolve allegations that natural gas processors violated federal and state air pollution laws by failing to monitor leaks.
