Caterpillar Inc. has responded to Doosan Bobcat's patent infringement suit in the Eastern District of Texas by accusing Bobcat itself of infringing a series of Caterpillar patents, the latest development in a larger intellectual property fight between the companies.
Doosan Bobcat has told the U.S. International Trade Commission to ignore claims by rival Caterpillar Inc. and eight members of Congress that U.S. industry will be harmed by banning imports of Caterpillar construction machines if they are found to infringe Doosan Bobcat patents.
Construction equipment maker Doosan Bobcat has accused rival Caterpillar Inc. of breaking down products to look for ways to engineer them, especially skid-steer loaders, excavators and dozers, in a pair of patent infringement lawsuits it brought in Texas federal court and the U.S. International Trade Commission.
