France Fines Yogurt Maker €1.6M For Abusing Dominance

Law360, New York (July 25, 2014, 7:38 PM EDT) -- France's antitrust watchdog on Thursday fined the Societe Nouvelle des Yaourts de Littee €1.6 million ($2.14 million) for abusing its dominance by falsely questioning the safety and quality of a rival producer's yogurt.

The French Competition Authority slapped the leading Antilles-based yogurt maker, which distributes the Yoplait brand in the region, with a penalty after concluding that the company had put out misleading information about rival Laiterie de Saint-Malo's yogurt.
