Ex-Student Sues U. Of Miami, Prof Over Sexual Harassment
Law360 (May 22, 2019, 10:43 PM EDT) -- The University of Miami acted with "deliberate indifference" when it failed to address a professor’s harassment of a former business school student who was dismissed after he campaigned to have her removed, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday in a Florida federal court.
A doctoral candidate in the marketing program from 2014 to 2017, plaintiff Ana Kono alleges “textbook examples” of violations of Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 and Section 1983 of the Civil Rights Act by the university, including deficient training and supervisory practices that she said led to injuries to her constitutional rights.
