Prison Services Co. Settles Disability Bias Suit For $550K
Law360 (September 11, 2019, 6:44 PM EDT) -- Prison services provider Connections CSP will pay $550,000 to resolve a U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission suit claiming it violated federal discrimination law by firing employees with disabilities who requested medical-leave extensions.
The agency said Tuesday that Delaware-based Connections CSP Inc. agreed to settle claims it violated the Americans With Disabilities Act and Title I of the Civil Rights Act by firing Sabaina Massaquoi and four other employees after they sought extensions to their 12 weeks of leave under the Family Medical Leave Act for issues related to their disabilities.
