EPA Urged To Probe Fracking Water Pollution In Pa.

Law360, New York (April 27, 2010, 1:42 PM EDT) -- Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., has called on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to investigate the impact of hydraulic fracturing on water sources in his home state, in light of reports of well contamination from the drilling activities of Cabot Oil and Gas Corp. in the Marcellus Shale.

In a letter Monday, Casey urged the EPA to determine whether it has the authority to investigate and respond to groundwater contamination and other “potentially harmful consequences” of natural gas drilling.
