US Oil Settles Suit Over Wash. Refinery Emissions

Law360, New York (December 13, 2010, 4:20 PM EST) -- U.S. Oil & Refining Co. has agreed to pay a civil penalty of $230,000 and spend $746,000 on supplemental environmental projects in order to settle a suit from the federal government and Puget Sound Clean Air Agency over alleged Clean Air Act violations at its petroleum refinery in Tacoma, Wash.

The U.S. lodged the parties' proposed consent decree in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington on Friday, the same day it filed the suit on behalf of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency...
