House OKs Bills To Curb Fracking Regs, Speed Drill Permits
Law360, Los Angeles (November 20, 2013, 4:50 PM EST) -- The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday approved Republican-backed energy bills that would speed up the gas and oil permitting process and block federal regulations for hydraulic fracturing, in the face of a veto threat from the White House.
The House voted 228 to 192 to approve the Federal Jobs and Energy Security Act, H.R. 1965, with seven Democrats joining Republicans in support of the bill. And in a later vote, the House passed Protecting States' Rights to Promote American Energy Security Act, H.R. 2728, by a vote of 235 to 187, with 12 Democrats casting votes in favor of the bill.
