Attys Will Slim Fees If Oil Cos. Strike Deal In La. Pollution Fight

Law360, New York (April 9, 2014, 3:54 PM EDT) -- Lawyers representing a Louisiana flooding authority in a lawsuit accusing 97 energy giants of ravaging the state's coastal lands said on Wednesday that they will waive some attorneys' fees if the companies, which include subsidiaries of BP PLC and Anadarko Petroleum Corp., negotiate a settlement.

The attorneys, who hail from Jones Swanson Huddell & Garrison LLC, inked a contingency fee agreement with the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East guaranteeing they will receive 22.5 percent to 32.5 percent of any money recovered. But the agreement has received...
